The Palm Jumeirah is a manmade archipelago in Dubai, UAE. It is Created using land reclamation by the Nakheel which extends into the Persian Gulf.
It is a part of the larger series of developments called the palm islands. including the palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira, which when completed will together increase Dubai’s shoreline by a total of 520 km, it had an estimated population of 10,500 as of 2016.
According to Wikipedia, It is located in the Jumeirah coastal area of the emirates of Dubai, in UAE.
Its construction was done by 2 dutch (joint venture) specialist companies. Van Oord and boskalis, the same companies also “the world”(the world or the world islands is an archipelago of small artificial islands constructed in the shape of the world map, located in the water of Persian Gulf, 4.0 km off the coast of Dubai city, (UAE).
The recently opened destinations the Pointe, club vista mare, and the Nakheel Mall are the latest additions to the Palm Jumeirah Dubai (UAE).
Construction:
The Palm Jumeirah island construction began in June 2001 and the developers announced the handover of the first residential units in 2006.
At this time 75% of the properties were ready to hand over, with 500 families already residing on this island by the end of 2009. 29 hotels were opened on the crescent.
The complexities of the construction were blamed. In the part for the extended delays to the completion of the project.
The date of which was pushed back multiple times and was nearly 2 years late.
Housing density after launching the project, it was revealed that Nakheel increasing the number of residual units on the island (with the concomitant reduction in the amount of physical space between individual properties) from the originally announced 4,500 (comprising 2,000 villas purchased early in the expectation of greater separation between properties).
This creation was attributed to Nakheel miscalculating the actual cost of construction & requiring the raising of the additional capital, although Nakheel has never commented publically on the matter.
In 2009 the New York Times is reported that many people had bought houses before they were built and are furious about the space available now and the way they seem to be living on top of each other.
The water quality:
The water quality of the outer breakwater was designed as a continuous barrier. But by preventing the natural tidal movement, seawater within the palm became stagnant.
The breakwater was subsequently modified to create gaps on either side. Allowing tidal movement to oxygenate the water within and prevent it from stagnating, albeit less efficiently than would be the case if the breakwater didn’t exist.
Transportation:
The Palm Jumeirah monorail is a 5-4 km –long (3.4mi) monorail connecting the Atlantis Hotel to the Gateway Towers all the foot of the island.
The monorail connects Palm Jumeirah to the mainland, with the planned further extension to the Red Line of Dubai Metro, the line began operating on 30 April 2009. It’s the first monorail in the Middle East.

Development was open on 24 Sep 2008 as the joint venture between Kerzner International Holding Limited and Istithmar.
In the month of April 2012, Istithmar Acquired Kerzner’s 50-percent stake in the property for US$250 million.
This property continues to be managed to be Kerzner International Resorts.
The architect was the design firm Wimberly, Allison, Tong, and Goo (WATG) the International firm specializing in luxury Hotels.
Principle contract for the project was awarded to Laing O’Rourke; the multinational construction firm based in the UK, Laing O’Rourke was responsible for the design and construction phases of the 23-story hotel and water park.
- The Dolphin Controversy:
The Hotel received a shipment of 28 bottlenose dolphins from the Solomon Islands, to be used as part of their aquarium exhibit, called Dolphin Bay.
The move was decried by several environmental groups, particularly for the fact that the export of dolphins had earlier been banned by the Solomon Island government (after the similar controversial shipment to Mexico).

Tiers and spend:
All the members who sign up to the Atlantis circle program through the mobile application will be blue members and start with 0 AED spend accumulated, every time a member drinks/ dines in one of participating restaurants and uses their QR code to apply their discount to their bill they can see mount they paid after the discount was applied in My Spend progress bar on the homepage of their mobile application.
The members who have reached a Spend of 15,000 AED within their membership year will automatically be upgraded to silver tier status and the members who are 35,000 AED within the membership year will automatically be upgraded to gold tier status.
If tier spends for silver and gold are not maintained within 12 months of reaching tier then the account will be downgraded to the blue and silver tiers respectively.
Membership account:
The membership is currently restricted to the UAE residents just only, changing the phone or deleting the mobile app will result in members being logout. The member can log back into the mobile app by using the email address or they can use the mobile number to sign up with it.
The membership term is one year from the time they first sign up.

- Building the project:
This hotel is located on the Palm Jumeirah, an artificial archipelago in UAE.
The technical issues begun with the site’s de-watering. Given that there was no closed shoring of the site and water coming in from 3 sides.
The company had to adopt several different de-watering methods; another challenge was when it came to the foundation work.
The diameter of piles used as greater than those in the original design as the results of changes to requirement, foundations, therefore, had to be tailored according to existing pile locations.
The plot is 49,000 m2 & the building occupies 20, 000 m2 & consists of 2 basement floors and six higher ones.
