Dubai: Dubai Police received 37,422 calls on its emergency hotline 999 during the Eid Al Adha holiday.
Colonel Turki bin Fares, director of the Command and Control Centre of Dubai Police Operations Department, said the department received the calls between July 20 to 23.
While the force’s non-emergency number 901 received 5,456 calls in the same period. “Dubai Police recorded many traffic accidents across the emirate during holidays. The majority of accidents were a result of tailgating, speeding and failing to abide by lane discipline,” said Col Bin Fares.
Moreover, the department received 568 emails and 475 live chats from customers who contacted the force’s (901) call centre for general inquires, feedback, and technical help. Dubai Police urged public to understand the difference between 901 and the emergency hotline 999 and be more mindful of the calls they make to the hotline.
Zero maritime incidents on Dubai beaches
Dubai Police recorded zero incidents on the beaches and in Hatta dam and valleys during Eid Al Adha holidays, thanks to the intensive efforts of Ports Police station.
Colonel Hasan Al Suwaidi, Director of Ports Police Station, said Dubai marine rescue teams worked tirelessly during the holiday to secure Dubai waters. He praised the efforts of officers in implementing security procedures to ensure that beachgoers adhere to safety instructions and measures to curb the pandemic.
Maritime security patrols, included divers, bicycles, motorcycles, cars and boats, to enhance the security and safety of the emirate’s waters and tourist attractions.
