Dubai: The successful opening of UAE’s Barakah nuclear plant was announced on Twitter by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
He said, “Today we announce the success of the UAE in the operation of the first nuclear power reactor in the Arab world, the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi. The teams successfully loaded the nuclear fuel packages, conducted thorough tests and successfully completed the operation. I congratulate my brother Mohamed bin Zayed on this achievement.”
Sheikh Mohammed added, “The goal is to operate four nuclear power plants that will provide a quarter of the state’s electricity needs in a safe, reliable and emission-free manner…”
